Aromatic Blends are here!

Well I have been rather busy today in my 'lab'. I have made up some lovely aromatherapy blends for various different things and have listed them on Trade Me. I figure it could be a good place to test the market, but I am letting all my blog readers know about these too.

I have made up four for pregnancy related issues, one for coughs and colds for adults and one to help getting some sleep. I can also make these adult ones up for children with different oils so if you would like some for kids just let me know.
These blends are not made up in bulk as I would like the customer to get freshly made blends that have not been sitting around for a couple of months, so as they are sold, they are made :)

I am very excited about these as I just love putting all that I have learnt to good use and I find blending essential oils together is relaxing. I love the final product because to me all oils smell divine.

Soaps and Bumps

I had 2 more lovely soaps arrive in my letterbox the other day, Sandalwood and 'Lilac Blossoms'.

The Lilac Blossoms (top one) smells gorgeous, quite a soft smell, however I was disappointed in the Sandalwood, it has a very faint trace of a smell...but the soap LOOKS fab lol! And no I have not used any of them, they are sitting on my fish tank making the room smell divine hehe.

I have to do a couple of assessments for my Aromascience course and one of them is about Aromatherapy in pregnancy... so this got me thinking, I can make up oil blends for specific pregnancy related 'issues', test them on my daughter who just happens to be pregnant, and then market the blends. I am going to start with a stretch mark prevention blend....watch this space :)

I have been a bit slack on the soap making because I have had too many ideas racing around my head and I have to sort them out lol.

My soaps

The two purples are both 100% Lavender and the layered soap is what I have called Cinnasweet! It is so lovely, a combo of Cinnamon, Strawberry and Cherry!
I have just finished making a batch of 'Loveable' soap, the fragrance is based off the Kamasutra love oil range. It is a great smell, soft and not overpowering.
Each bar of soap weighs approx 185g so they are nice big bars and should last a while, depending on use of course. The average commercial size soap is 100g to give you more of an idea.

As much fun as this is, I would love to venture into the 'cold-process' method of soap-making, however it involves using dangerous chemicals and would require buying more equipment and a whole lot more research. Maybe one day....

Too nice to use??

Not only do I make soap, I BUY soap! Hey my theory is I have to check out what the competition is all about :P
So, I got a gorgeous Patchouli handmade soap, see the top pic above, and it came with a lovely sample of the Lavender, the bottom pic....they both smell DIVINE!! And way to good to use, no seriously I can not bring myself to use these soaps. I would love to know how they smell on your skin but damn it I just can't do it.

Have a just become a soap 'collector' by chance?? Quite possibly....watch this space.

Monday 28 May 2012

yay new stuff!

I had my new mold, , brown mica colour, soap base and Kamasutra oil arrive today....so guess I'm making soap tomorrow!

After a small poll on Facebook I have decided I will make lip balms in a tube! Late last night I also found some yummy recipes for soap that I intend to create as well, some are: Buttercream bar, Choc lovers silky soap, Cucumber Ivy swirl mint soap and Vanilla Honey Oatmeal! What do you think of those? Some feedback in the comments section would be good :)

On a side not about my Lavender soap...so far it is lovely on the body but it was too drying on MY face, must ask Mum if she has used it on her face? I don't usually put soap on my face but seeing as I know EXACTLY what is in my soaps I thought I would give it a go...but no, too drying for me.

I love trial and error.

Ha looks like my font has changed again lol, I do like this font much better as it is easier to read...I had tried and tried to change it from the original and could not figure out how to do it, hope it stays this way LOL!

Ps, okay just viewed blog, never mind it is back to the original...weird much?!
